Frequently Asked Questions

A Certified Arborist is a tree care expert who has a minimum of three years experience in the tree care profession and has passed an exam developed by an international panel of arboriculture experts. The exam extensively covers every aspect of tree care and requires that the tree care professional has an acceptable level of knowledge in all areas of arboriculture.

This means that you receive the best possible tree care from a Certified Arborist. We have the knowledge, training and experience to recognize and treat any tree health issues, we practice arboriculture according to best practices and safety standards, and we love working with trees.

We are proud to have 30 ISA Certified Arborists on staff & 1 Board Certified Master Arborist.

Yes, we are fully insured for tree work in all our locations. We carry worker's compensation insurance for all employees, as well as full liability insurance specifically for tree work.

We’d rather meet in person to give an estimate than over the phone. Every situation is different so it’s best to examine the tree(s) and surrounding area before we can give you an accurate quote.

We prefer to meet you in person, but if that’s not possible we can also do contactless, swing-by visits. We like getting to know our clients! Plus, meeting in person gives you a change to ask any questions you may have about your trees, and lets us fully explain what we suggest for your trees and the reason why.

In general, we do not charge for a tree care estimate within our service areas.

There may be a fee, however, if you need an estimate for insurance purposes, an appraisal, property valuation, etc. Please contact your local Arbor Masters office to discuss your needs.

Although it’s great if you can be around for a pre-job walkthrough, and to make sure you’re happy at the end of the project, you do not need to be present unless your Arbor Advisor specifically notes otherwise OR if the work area is not accessible without you being there (for example, a locked gate).

The crew or treatment technicians will have a work order describing the work the Arbor Advisor wrote up for you, including pictures of the trees. They will complete the work following these guidelines.

There are a few simple ways to accept a proposal for tree work and plant health care treatments.

  1. Tap the green “accept” button on your electronic proposal if you are accepting it in its entirety exactly as written.
  2. Text and/or email your acceptance to your Arbor Advisor or our office.
  3. Print the proposal, sign it and mail the signed document to us.
  4. Print and sign the proposal, then scan it and return it to us via email.
  5. Print and sign the proposal, snap a photo of the signed document and then return it via email

If you would like any changes to the proposal, please contact us to discuss options as it may change the price and scheduling of the work.

In many cases we can remove trees that have electrical wires passing through the canopy.

Depending on which wires are present, and the proximity to the tree, we may need to schedule a utility line drop for the date of your job.

When we meet to review the job, we will discuss any potential hazards.

Yes, we work through the winter. In fact, many tree maintenance projects are best done during winter dormancy. Please note, however, that just like the other times of the year, we are at the mercy of the weather. We only work when it's safe enough for our team.

If your job needs to be rescheduled, we will contact you right away and let you know.

In general, for all stump grinding and many large tree removals we will contact and set up a utility locate service before we start our work.

If you have any underground sprinklers, drain lines, invisible fences, septic fields or underground cables, those should either be marked or pointed out to your Arbor Advisor.

Unless the underground lines and structures are adequately and accurately marked or mapped, and that information is presented to our crew before work starts, we can't be responsible for any damage caused during performance of the work.

The ANSI A300 standards are voluntary tree care industry consensus standards developed by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA).

The standards cover all aspects of tree care and are based on current research and sound practice for managing trees, shrubs, and other woody plants.

By following these standards, we ensure that your trees are being taken care of properly and in a way that keeps them healthy, safe, and beautiful.

Payment is due immediately upon receipt of the invoice. You will continue to receive invoices at 7-day intervals until payment is received in full.

We accept payment by check or credit card.

Payments can be made securely online or called in and done over the phone.

Checks can be given to the crew or mailed to your local branch office.

Yes, we offer some great financing options through GreenSky. You can learn more about the available financing options on our Financing page.

All debris resulting from the tree removal(s) and pruning(s) will be removed from the premises unless otherwise noted in the Proposal.

Stump removal or stump grinding will be a separate line item unless specifically stated otherwise on the Proposal.

Stump grinding or removal will not always be done the same day as the tree removal. This is a different crew with different equipment. Grinding should be done within one week of when the tree is removed.

You will have the option to leave grindings at the site or have them removed. Your Arbor Advisor will discuss these options and the correlated pricing.
