Frequently Asked Questions

A Certified Arborist is a tree care expert who has a minimum of three years experience in the tree care profession and has passed an exam developed by an international panel of arboriculture experts. The exam extensively covers every aspect of tree care and requires that the tree care professional has an acceptable level of knowledge in all areas of arboriculture.

This means that you receive the best possible tree care from a Certified Arborist. We have the knowledge, training, and experience to recognize and treat any tree health issues. Our team practices arboriculture according to best practices and safety standards, and we all love working with trees!

We are proud to have 30 ISA Certified Arborists on staff & 1 Board Certified Master Arborist.

Yes, we are fully insured for tree work in all our locations. We carry workers’ compensation insurance for all employees, as well as full liability insurance specifically for tree work.

Every tree and yard is different, and we need to see it in person to understand the full scope of the project.

We prefer to meet you in person, but if that’s not possible, we can also do contactless, swing-by visits. We like getting to know our clients! Plus, meeting in person gives you a chance to ask any questions you may have about your trees and lets us fully explain what we suggest for your trees and the reason why.

In general, we do not charge for a tree care estimate within our service areas. There may be a fee, however, if you need an estimate for insurance purposes, an appraisal, property valuation, etc. We’ll let you know ahead of time if your consultation will need to be a paid one.

Although it’s great if you can be around for a pre-job walkthrough, and to make sure you’re happy at the end of the project, you do not need to be present unless your Arbor Advisor specifically notes otherwise OR if the work area is not accessible without you being there (for example, a locked gate).

The crew or treatment technicians will have a work order describing the work the Arbor Advisor wrote up for you, including pictures of the trees. They will complete the work following these guidelines.

There are a few simple ways to accept a proposal for tree work and plant health care treatments.

  1. Tap the green “accept” button on your electronic proposal if you are accepting it in its entirety exactly as written.
  2. Text and/or email your acceptance to your Arbor Advisor or our office.
  3. Print and sign the proposal, snap a photo of the signed document and then return it via email.

If you would like any changes to the proposal, please contact us to discuss options as it may change the price and scheduling of the work.

Yes, we work through the winter. In fact, many tree maintenance projects are best done during winter dormancy. Please note, however, that just like the other times of the year, we are at the mercy of the weather. We only work when it's safe enough for our team.

If your job needs to be rescheduled, we will contact you right away and let you know.

In general, for all stump grinding and large tree removals, we will contact and set up a utility location service before we start our work.

If you have any underground sprinklers, drain lines, invisible fences, septic fields, or underground cables, those should either be marked or pointed out to your Arbor Advisor.

Unless the underground lines and structures are adequately and accurately marked or mapped, and that information is presented to our crew before work starts, we can't be responsible for any damage caused during the performance of the work.

The ANSI A300 standards are voluntary tree care industry consensus standards developed by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA).

The standards cover all aspects of tree care and are based on current research and sound practices for managing trees, shrubs, and other woody plants.

By following these standards, we ensure that your trees are being taken care of properly and in a way that keeps them healthy, safe, and beautiful.

Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice. If payment isn’t received, you’ll continue to receive reminders every 7 days until the balance is paid in full.

We accept payment by check, credit card, or secure online payment. You can also call in your payment over the phone.

If paying by check, you can hand it directly to our crew or mail it to your local branch office.
