Real Answers for Real Tree Care Concerns
Tree care, whether done by you or your tree service company, isn’t a straight-forward case of following a set schedule for what to do and when to do it. Changing weather patterns, unexpected storms, the introduction of new (and destructive!) insects and diseases to the Cedar Rapids area, and a host of other factors all affect how and when proper tree care is performed.
That’s why we provide a range of helpful tree care resources for Cedar Rapids residents, from seasonal tips to monthly blog articles, FAQs, fact sheets, and a timely email newsletter (you won’t want to miss an issue so get on the distribution list today!).
Seasonal Tips
Fall Tree Care Tips for Cedar Rapids Homeowners

Rake up and dispose of fallen leaves from trees infected with fungal diseases such as anthracnose. This will help prevent the spread of fungal spores that can overwinter in leaf litter. For healthy trees, mulch the leaves and use them as a natural fertilizer for your trees and landscape.
Prepare tender young or newly planted trees for winter by wrapping the trunks with tree wrap or applying a protective coating to prevent sunscald and frost cracks. This isn’t necessary for all trees so ask your arborist which ones are most vulnerable to winter damage.
Continue watering your trees until the ground freezes, especially during dry spells. Adequate moisture helps your trees enter dormancy and weather the cold months ahead.
Plant new trees in the fall to take advantage of cooler temperatures and increased moisture. This allows the trees to establish strong roots before the stress of summer heat.

We like to meet you in person if possible. We enjoy getting to know our customers and ensuring we fully understand their needs and concerns. This also lets you ask questions and allows us to explain our suggestions. But if you can't be there, we can do a contactless visit to make it convenient for you.
Although it’s great if you can be around for a pre-job walkthrough, and to make sure you’re happy at the end of the project, you don't need to be home unless we say otherwise or if we need access to a locked area. Our crew will have all the details about the job, including pictures of the trees taken during the initial consultation.
Yes, we work year-round. Many tree jobs are best done in winter when trees are dormant. But like any time of year, we only work when it's safe. We'll let you know right away if we need to reschedule due to weather.
