Fort Worth Stump Grinding

Fast, Efficient, and Eco-Friendly Stump Removal Services

Stump grinding is an alternative to removal where the Arbor Masters team uses a grinder to shave the stump down at least six inches below the soil grade. Once we’ve ground it down, we’ll fill the hole with soil and leave it level. Stump grinding is the perfect service after tree removal to remove an eyesore stump and have extra space for future landscaping or construction projects.

Stump Grinding vs Stump Removal: What’s the Difference?

Stump grinding is the process of using a grinder to shave a stump down to below ground level. It will eventually decompose underground, though the process will take a few years. Stump grinding is efficient and does much less damage to your yard.

Stump removal focuses on using equipment to excavate the stump out of the ground and fully remove it from the property. This will allow you to replant immediately, but it will tear up your yard and require more work to get it back to a pleasing look.

At Arbor Masters, we like to focus on stump grinding, as it is much gentler on your yard and a simpler process. We occasionally remove stumps, but only when they’re from a small tree.

Local Regulations and Concerns

While the City of Fort Worth and the Department of Urban Forestry have strict regulations and permitting requirements for tree removal, there are not normally permits required for stump grinding. However, there may be some concerns, such as:

  • HOA Bylaws: If you live in a community with an HOA, you may need to get approval for the project before proceeding.

  • Zoning and Property Lines: If a stump is on the property line, you’ll likely need to speak with your neighbor and get their approval for the process. We’ll inform you of any property line or zoning issues during the estimate.

  • Utility Lines: Always confirm the location of underground utility lines before grinding a stump. We can help you work with utility companies to discover any underground pipes that need to be avoided.

Extremely Polite and Efficient

“The workers showed up promptly. They were in company shirts and looked like they had just stepped out of the shower! Extremely polite and efficient. Took two visits-taking down stumps and then coming back to grind. Both teams arrived on stated time, completed the job and cleaned up. Wish I had called Arbor Masters when I first had the trees cut down. Great job!”
