Our Expert Tree Removal Process

The Arbor Masters Approach

Is It Time to Remove Your Tree?

Not every tree can be saved, and it’s important to know when a tree needs to come down. Some common reasons we remove trees in Fort Worth include:

  • Dead Tree: Dead trees cannot support themselves and can become dangerous over time. Removal will keep you safe from the tree crashing into your house.

  • Disease: Some diseases can quickly kill a tree, such as oak wilt, an incredibly deadly and infectious disease that has decimated the oak population in Texas.

  • Leaning: Leaning trees are more likely to fall over. Prompt removal can save you from having to deal with a fallen tree and the damage it causes.

  • Excessive Storm Damage: A hurricane or wind storm can damage a tree so greatly that recovery isn’t feasible, and removal is the only option.

  • Poor Location: Sometimes, a tree isn’t in the right place to begin with, and it can interfere with structures and pipes, necessitating removal.

Tree Removal Permits in Fort Worth

Fort Worth was the first place in Texas to obtain designation as a Tree City USA community. The city is committed to maintaining at least 30 percent of its tree canopy coverage across the city.

In general, if you remove one dead, dying, diseased, or hazardous tree on private property with one house under one acre, you do not need a tree removal permit. Situations where you’ll need an Urban Forestry permit to remove one tree include:

  • The tree is a Significant Tree

  • Your property is larger than one acre

  • Its species has a diameter at breast height (DBH) of more than six inches

  • It is a Heritage Tree

  • The City of Fort Worth also requires tree removal permits in some cases, including:

  • Removing the tree will result in less than 75 percent of the existing tree canopy being destroyed

  • The tree is located adjacent to city property

  • The tree is near city property and deals with insect or disease attacks

Tree Removal FAQs

Seeing a tree in person allows us to get a better idea of its age, condition, and size. During the initial consultation, we will also be able to assess any space requirements or complicating factors involved with removing the tree.

While we’d love to get a chance to talk with you during the removal, we understand everyone is busy and can’t always make time out of their schedule. We do plenty of tree work when homeowners are at work or otherwise not at home.

Cranes allow us to remove trees in tight spaces more easily. They also allow us to be more efficient in removal, as it speeds the job up tremendously after we have the crane set up.

Tree topping is the practice of picking a horizontal line and cutting all branches and growth above the line. This is an outdated process that no ISA Certified Arborist will perform, and it will not make your tree smaller. To respond to the injury, a tree will put out increased growth that will look ugly and take up space.
