Fort Worth Tree Support Systems

Our Fort Worth Tree Support Systems

Tree support systems can help stabilize trees and reinforce weakened areas, reducing the risk of breakage during storms or high winds. These systems are particularly beneficial for trees that have been improperly pruned or damaged by storms.

Cabling

When we cable a tree, we install static steel cables or dynamic braided nylon cables to provide extra support to weak branch or stem unions. We will use cabling when we determine a tree has a weak union or has overly long branches.

Bracing

When we brace a tree, we insert a steel rod through a weak branch or stem union. This is a somewhat invasive process, so we typically only recommend it for trees with a split union.

Why Trust Arbor Masters with Your Tree’s Cabling and Bracing

Cabling and bracing are tree services that require a delicate touch, something that far too many tree care companies lack. When you work with Arbor Masters, you’ll notice the care we put into tree work. Some of the aspects that set us apart from the competition include:

TCIA Accreditation

The Tree Care Industry Association only awards accreditation to companies that demonstrate a commitment to following the best practices of tree care and business. We are proud to have TCIA Accreditation as a demonstration of our commitment to our customers and their trees.

We Follow All ANSI A300 Standards

The ANSI A300 Standards are a set of voluntary practices that the International Society of Arboriculture encourages tree care companies to follow. These guidelines are what’s best for trees, and we follow them when cabling and bracing trees, as well as using standard equipment.

We Do What’s Best for Trees

At Arbor Masters, our primary focus is on the health and well-being of your trees. We provide recommendations based on the tree's specific needs, rather than prioritizing financial gain. Trust our expert arborists to guide you towards the best course of action for your trees.

When Trees Need Cabling and Bracing

Our expert team can provide a thorough assessment to determine if your tree needs cabling and bracing. However, here are some common situations where these support systems may be beneficial:

Storm-Damaged Trees

Storms can break branches and leave a tree unbalanced. Structural support will help maintain the weakened branches and allow them to heal.

Heavy Tree Limbs

Older trees can grow long and heavy branches. Our cabling and bracing will stabilize and protect these limbs from breaking off and injuring someone.

Trees with Multiple Trunks

Trees with multiple trunks are more prone to failure in a storm, and our structural support will strengthen both trunks and reduce the risk of splitting.

Trees in High-Traffic Areas or Near Structures

Trees located near structures or in areas with frequent foot or vehicle traffic pose a greater risk if they fail. Cabling and bracing can help reduce this risk and protect people and property.

Don’t Forget to Have Your Structural Support Checked

While cabling and bracing are an excellent way to strengthen your trees and make them safer during a storm, they are not permanent solutions. Trees will continue to grow while you have structural supports installed, and the cables may not be as capable of supporting the new growth in the next year. Additionally, cables and braces will naturally wear down over time.

We recommend having an arborist inspect your structural support each year to determine if it may need to be replaced.

Preparing for Your Cabling and Bracing Appointment

While the expert team at Arbor Masters will take care of the installation, there are a few things you can do to help us before we arrive, such as:

  • Remove Obstructions: If you have any lawn decorations or furniture near the tree, please remove them so we don’t accidentally damage or trip over them.

  • Keep Pets Inside: We love pets, but they can often be edgy with all the noise that happens during tree care. Please leave your pets inside while we work to keep them safe.

  • Inform Your Neighbors: Let your neighbors know we’ll be in the neighborhood so they aren’t surprised to see us.

Cabling and Bracing FAQs

When a tree is fully leafed out, you likely won’t even be able to see the cables or braces.

Saving a tree is always preferable to removal, as it will save you money and allow you to enjoy the benefits of trees for years to come.

Cabling may be able to save a weakened tree, but not all of them. During an initial consultation, our arborists can determine if there is a chance to save your tree, or if removal is the best option.

While structural support will make your tree safer, it cannot make it impervious to damage. Use caution around trees during storms or high-wind weather.
