Arbor Masters Tree Preservation Services

The tree preservation services at Arbor Masters can help protect your trees and save you from needing to remove them. Tree preservation is a broad category of tree services, and some of the services we provide for residents in the greater Tulsa area include:

Air Spading

Our air spade can help reduce soil compaction to allow your tree’s roots to expand and find new sources of nutrients and water. The compressed air from our air spade won’t damage the roots.

Root Flare Excavation

We’ll mark areas for construction equipment and foot traffic to avoid while building to limit the damage to your tree’s roots while you complete the project.

Root Flare Excavation

A tree’s root flare (the part where the trunk meets the roots) should be uncovered to allow it to remain dry. We can excavate the root flare from soil and mulch that has built up around it.

Root Pruning

Root pruning can save a tree from girdling roots that circle around the trunk and restrict the transmission of nutrients from the roots to the upper portion and vice versa.

FAQs

Yes, compacted soil limits a tree’s ability to expand its roots. Additionally, it stops trees from taking up necessary nutrients and water from the soil.

Root pruning should be done carefully and by a professional, as the roots you will prune to try and correct girdling roots are the same ones responsible for taking up nutrients from the soil.

Construction often damages trees in two primary ways. Firstly, heavy equipment going over a tree’s roots can sever them or compact soil. Secondly, digging can cut roots and leave a tree struggling to anchor itself and take up the nutrients it needs to survive.

The team at Arbor Masters uses an air spade to aerate the soil. Air spades shoot compressed air into the soil to loosen it and reduce compaction without damaging the underground roots.
